The warranty on my life must have run out

Lately I've been experiencing that thing where everything in your life that you need to function decides it needs to be replaced all at the same time. This has led to the spending of much money. How much? Let's see!

Item 1 - Boots from Kathmandu - $190 - I needed these to replace my crappy sneakers which function as my everyday shoes, and this time I wanted something that would LAST, plus boots are cool, so yeh.

Item 2 - Shoes from some place in Birkenhead Point - $60 - These were to replace my work shoes, which were so dead that when I held up the left shoe a piece of metal fell out. Needless to say spending 4 hours on my feet every day in them wasn't the most pleasant experience after that.

Item 3 - Black pants from Tightrope - $12 - These are for work. My old pants didn't need to be replaced but Coles is pretty tough on pants (stains from flour/shampoo/etc) and I was getting sick of having to wash them every single day.

Item 4 - Cargos from some other shop at Birkenhead Point -$40?$60? I don't remember - These are a partial replacement for my dead jeans which I love but which I've pretty much worn out completely. I still want new jeans but it's not urgent anymore.

Item 5 - Haircut - $60 - Ok this possibly doesn't really count, because haircuts can always be put off. I'd been meaning to have one for the last 4 months or so but was too lazy/busy, but I did really need one because my hair was too long and I hadn't gotten a haircut in over a year and I had a million or so split ends as a result fo this. Anyway, I now have short hair! Yay!

Item 6 - New watch band - $15 - Stupid watch, I felt so naked this morning at work with a bare wrist. Also, the date on my watch is a day ahead for some weird reason and I have no idea why. I just hope it's not because it's about to die for good >_<

Item 7 - New phone - ?? probably at least $200, closer to $300 - My old Siemens phone is awesome. It does everything I need a phone to do (call people, take SMS', have reception) There's a couple of things I wouldn't mind it doing (take pictures) but overall I really like the fact that it WORKS (people who know Ali will be familiar with her Chocolate phone, aka 'it looks really cool and does everything EXCEPT function as a phone'). However it's starting to die. One of the buttons sometimes needs to be pressed extra hard. More alarming is the way that sometimes when I accept an incoming call I won't be able to speak to or hear the person on the other end. So, I need a new phone, and sooner rather than later.

I think that's it so far. $377 spent on stuff I considered essential within the space of about a month >_<

In other news, my Linguistics teacher uses really weird marking criteria. And by this I mean that the piece of crap essay I churned out in about 3 hours of actual work (plus 30 min worth of googling and reading stuff) got an 85% mark. I expected a lousy mark given that I know perfectly well that I could have done the subject much more justice than I did, but I guess I shouldn't complain. Or maybe this is why everyone says Arts is so easy, the lecturers all play nicely. In other Linguistics related news, my tutorial class is really annoying me, they all just sit there in dumb silence whenever the lecturer poses a question, and then I feel obliged to speak up.
