hillsong again

Today's Hillsong discussion concerns the power of rumour. According to a friend who shall remain nameless, lets call him Hein for this exercise (*evil grin*), Hillsong owns Gloria Jeans. How does he know this? Someone at a club told him. This was later confirmed by another girl he knew who was like "omg haven't you heard that hillsong bought them out?"
So because 'everyone' knows this, it must be true right?
This kind of thinking makes me want to bang my head on a brick wall. It is exactly this sort of thinking that leads people to think that Elvis is still alive and that the Jews kill small babies and use the blood to make matzah (matzo if you don't know how to pronounce it properly :p), and all manner of other stupid things. Strangely enough, i can't find any dirt on the subject at Snopes, but it smacks of conspiracy theory so strongly that i would be *very* surprised if it was true. Surprised enough to eat my hat perhaps, assuming i had one.
