random thoughts at nearly 3 am
Oct. 27th, 2005 02:53 amone day i should write down all the random stuff i know which doesn't relate directly to what i'm meant to be doing with my life. I have no doubt that it could fill several encyclopedias O_o
For example, constantine was the emperor who brought the roman empire crashing to its knees by converting to christianity in the year 400 something (468 off the top of my head but its probably wrong). He was crowned emperor by the church and in doing so caused a major split which weakened the empire and led to its eventual disintegration
EDIT: wow i was sure wrong on this one. Thanks to Robert for directing me to wikipedia for the correct dates and facts. It's widely believed that Constantine converted on his deathbed, however he started to tolerate Christianity in the Roman empire after the year 312 when he saw an omen. Now, all i have to work out is why i have the year 468 stuck in my head, and what event happened then O_o
For example, the name for the Devil, Satan, actually means adversary. Hence the adversary that all computing people have to work against i expect :p
For example, there is a genetic medical condition some women have called misandrogony or similar, where they were actually meant to be born men but due to a deficiency of the hormone androgen never developed the testes which would then release the rest of the hormones needed to turn them into males. So instead their body releases large amounts of oestrogen, giving them very full figures, but since they aren't biologically meant to be women they are sterile. Sucks to be them, eh?
And that completes the random facts for tonight
