tiger tiger tiger
May. 1st, 2006 07:42 pmMan, i love the zoo so much.
We ended up with a group of 11. Me Ali Zhe Hein, Jenny, Hein's friend Darren, Ling Wei (ali's malaysian cousin), Elvina (ali's other malaysian cousin and promptly christened Ribena by Hein) and Ling Wei's friends Mei Ling, Anh Lee, and someone who was introduced to me as C. Ling Wei and co made the trip even more enjoyable because they were so ultra fobby :p There's just something about a whole lot of people you know oohing and aahing and taking a zillion photos of a wombat scratching its nose that just makes it so much more amusing.
For some reason we managed to see most of the animals when they were being interesting for once. The koalas were awake and moving around for the first time ever in all the times I've seen them. The sea lion was being a complete attention whore and cruising back and forth underneath the spectators, raising itself out of the water every now and then so as to present its most photogenic side. And speaking of attention whores, there was the TIGER :D Allow me to explain. There are two tigers in the enclosure. One of them was sleeping on a raised platform, looking very regal but fairly uninteresting. The other one was pacing around near the back of the enclosure. But then, while we were watching, it decided to come pace up close to the glass. Everyone oohed and aahed and exclaimed over its beauty. It turned away and then came back for a second pass, closer this time. Everyone oohed and aahed some more. And then it decided to walk the full length of the enclosure right in front of us, so close that its fur was pressed against the glass. Most. Awesome. Zoo moment. Ever.
Everything after that was somewhat anticlimactic.
We also saw the snow leopard cubs, which were adorable and being fed what looked suspiciously like ordinary Whiskers cat food. But they couldn't top the performance of the TIGER. The tapir was wearing what looked like one of those airline sleeping masks while it slept. Some of the mountain goats (can't remember their proper names) were standing right next to the wire fence and seemingly enjoying the pettings of people going past. Some of the other animals seemed rather camera shy, judging by the way they would let us see them up close until we whipped the cameras out, at which point they would turn tail and get as much greenry as possible between us and them.
So in summary, the TIGER was cool. The rest of the zoo was cool too :p. The food was horrendously overpriced but I expected that. And we had lots of fun :D
