Last night I went to the Heaven and Hell party at the Roundhouse with Ali, Hein, Danny and Jenny. Hein dressed as a cowboy in white from heaven, I dressed as a goth chick from hell, Ali went as a devil with black top and skirt and a red belt/sash, Danny and Jenny went in casual.
The heaven and hell party was crap. There is no other way to put it. When we went in, the roundhouse was the most deserted I've ever seen during a party, Instead of music we could dance to, we had this psuedo-anarchist band doing covers of ACDC. Granted, their musical performance couldn't be faulted, but ACDC is really not dancing music. At midnight they finally got off the stage for about 10 minutes for a break, and a DJ came on and put on some danceable stuff*, and suddenly the dancefloor filled up like crazy. When the band came back, it emptied again just as quickly.
Upstairs was really nicely decorated with millions of helium balloons, pity the music consisted of nothing but techno/trance sort of stuff. So we hung around for a while, saw Negar and a friend of hers who were both dressed up really nicely, got invaded by these weird indian guys who tried to grind us, got temporary tattoos..
When the cover band came back, we decided enough was enough and it was time to ditch the place. Since we were all dressed up and no place to go, we (me ali hein and danny) decided to head to Arq on Oxford Street and get some gay clubbing in. Ali also convinced Ling Wei to come with us :)
At Arq it was amazingly hot inside. Hein almost wasn't allowed in at all because his passport is really old and he looks nothing like his photo :( But eventually we all got in. I couldn't dance anymore because my high-heeled pointy goth boots aren't really made for walking long distances in (such as to Ling Wei's and back again). We got to watch an amazing drag show (i would say most amazing I've ever seen but that would be implying that I've seen others :p). And then afterwards we went to a food store on Oxford Street and ate pizza. By this point it was about 3:30am :p So I ended up crashing at Hein's instead of going home as I'd originally planned.
Today was a bit of a letdown compared to last night. Woke up around midday, went to uni to watch the NerdsFC match and scrounge a free veggie patty. The match was pretty cool, you could see how much the Nerds had learnt in the way they finessed the ball really well to get their one and only goal. Unfortunately, RevueFC managed to score a goal as well, and then in the extra time Oleg managed to kick a goal from halfway across the field because Robin wasn't close enough to the goal to defend it properly. And sitting in the cold for an hour wasn't a lot of fun. And after that, just hanging with friends until it was time to go home.
I am so damn tired. But it's way too early for me to sleep without completely screwing up my sleeping patterns (cos y'know, staying up till 4am totally hasn't done that yet :p). And my feet hurt. And bits of my hair are coloured a kind of yellowy-greeny-blue colour. And half my nails are covered in black nail polish, which I am slowly but compulsively scraping off with my nails
* as it happens, the music seemed to be almost entirely made up of songs from a certain revue thread where we were asked to name our favourite songs to dance to. Examples: Love Shack, and Heaven is a place on earth
