You know you're too nerdy when..
Aug. 22nd, 2006 01:53 am..sitting out in the winter sun for an hour causes you to get sunburn on the exposed skin between your jeans and your tshirt.
*sigh*
That aside, my life has been pretty busy lately. Spent a wild night watching Stay Alive then playing late night Mao (most awesome card game ever - ask for an explanation if you're interested).
Been arguing with various people over the reasons for the existence of Israel and whose fault everything is. Also whether Israel has lost its right to be defended by the likes of me, and have been deeply worried that many many people seem to have trouble telling the difference between Zionism and Judaism.
Been rageful at a religious nut who states that the purpose of life is to score points for the afterlife and that's why there's inequality in the world, because God wanted us to have opportunities to be charitable to eachother and you can't do that if all wealth is distributed evenly. This is also the same religious nut who thinks that the ideal marriage is loveless because having your happiness partially dependent on someone who could leave you at any moment makes no sense. Much better to have your relationship with God after all, and the spouse is just there to have children with, since raising kids gives you almost infinite chances to score points.
..Yeh, I'm pretty rageful at ultra-religious people at the moment. I don't think I will ever be able to understand them. Even if this world is illusory, openly treating it as such seems pretty degrading to the rest of humanity.
My quest to read varied and interesting books has come to a screeching halt due to uni. For the first time ever, I am really making an effort to apply myself to my studies. That said, I still have my dreams of boardgaming. This Wednesday I'm going to try to go to Gameplayers weekly meeting to get onto their mailing list and find the URL of their new website. And on Thursday I may just go into uni to visit the Bridge Club.
Of such trivial things are my life composed at the moment. One could argue that one is also too nerdy when your main interests right now involve uni, boardgames, bridge, and philosophical arguments.
