fake = polite?

what is fakeness?

In my books, fakeness is pretending to enjoy the company of people you would otherwise rather not talk to, and making conversation. And now I'm being told, no that isn't really fake, that's just being polite. Fakeness is when you go out of your way to talk to someone to tell them lies about how good they are.
So from this I conclude that my standards of fakeness include most ppl's definition of polite. No wonder I have trouble with this whole socialising thing so often :\

I dunno. Sometimes I can feel that when you hang around them for so long and it kind of becomes the social norm it no longer is 'fake' it's just the definition of your acquaintanceship. Am I making any sense? (The answer to which is probably no)

There is sense in that. But.. I really hate what I see to be fakeness. In particular I despise the revue culture that promotes fakeness in place of genuine sociability. I know I come across as distant/rude/weird a lot but a large part of that is because I only really make the effort to socialise with people who I like in some fashion, and in those cases its not usually an effort to be sociable with them. So while I complain about being bad at socialising, I accept that being better -> learning how to fake it -> hating myself for being a hypocrite.

I also believe that people who you have to be fake to all the time aren't really worth that time you spend with them.

speaking of revue crowd(and i'm referring to SOME of them)..i believe being goofy and witty is one thing but i think being rude is just screwed up... if u think the only option to shine is by being rude and stupidly fake, haha, boy, u got life wrong...
and about fakeness, they get what they give but when i'm tired out, i won't even give time to fake myself...
i need time for my REAL friends, guys..
so out with ur so called charisma
