Today I headed into uni to get some work done on my Linguistics assignment and attend archery for the first time in at least 2 months. I'm glad I came back to archery, the new crowd is quite friendly and we had lots of fun when we went to dinner at Panda in Kingsford afterwards. On a random note, the banquet option at Panda is just awesome, the amount of food we got was enough even for Zhe with his crazy metabolism. Afterwards, I headed out to the 400 bus stop only to discover that my bus had just passed and I would have to wait half an hour in the freezing cold for the next one :(
So there I was waiting, listening to this group of youngish and obviously drunk guys yelling, praying they weren't planning to get on the same bus as me (they didn't), and who should come past but my brother's friends Michael and Mark. Michael's new emo look suits him i have to say, however I can't really say the same about Mark's combination of shaggy hair bleached lighter at the tips with a bandanna to hold it back and a large amount of stubble.

[bitch] Another thing that really annoys me about people is when they do the whole ritual of hugging and/or kissing someone who they aren't even close to, it just smacks of fakery. Yes that means you Michael. I haven't forgotten that you're the same kid I once chased around a deserted parking lot for a good minute or so while you ran for your life *evil grin*. [/bitch]

So we did the awkward chat thing for a minute or two before they headed off to Churchies for a meetup with some of their WoW friends, and eventually my bus came. And the entire back area was taken up by a group of people who ended every sentence with "bro" and every paragraph with "fuck you up the ass bro". I sat in the farthest empty seat possible and tried to ignore them. For reference, you try ignoring people when they're yelling at the bus driver to drive faster and shouting the lyrics to "my humps" in unison. I felt jealous of the guy a few seats ahead of me who had nice thick headphones on..
Combine this story with the one from a couple of days ago involving a really fat guy who almost squished me to death while choking me with really strong vinegar smell (Alison knows what I mean :p) and you can see why I say that I will no doubt meet my end on public transport. So many weirdos, selfish inconsiderate people and drunk/rowdy groups >_< I still like public transport in general, just not at night or in peak hour.

..and I came across this sentence in Wikipedia:

While many saw his work as fanciful or even blasphemous (due to the fact that Hebrew was the holy language of the Torah and therefore some thought that it should not be used to discuss common everyday matters) many soon understood the need for a common language

My only response to this is.. those people are complete idiots. If Hebrew was good enough for our ancestors 2000 years ago why can't we use it now? I don't see how they would be doing anyone any favours by making it a special language only to be used for discussing religion in. In fact, isn't that what happened to Latin? And look where that is now.

There is no greater sign of respect and honour than in using something for what it was originally intended to be used for. And the Hebrew language would still be largely dead today if those idiots had gotten their way.
