Things have been fairly busy lately, but i haven't had the motivation to write about them, so here's a summary:

Last Thursday was Ali's 21st party at the White Horse in Surry Hills. The theme was safari, and suprisingly almost everyone made at least a token effort to get into the theme, so it was cool. I discovered that if it's important enough I'm able to give a speech without any notes, although I still suffer from my unfortunate habit of giving some phrases unintended emphasis or saying them in an odd way or something, causing everyone to laugh at parts thatI didn't think were amusing. Oh well. There was a chocolate fountain at the party, which was awesome, and afterwards we had about 4 take home containers full of liquid chocolate to take home.
I also stayed the Wednesday and Thursday night at Ali's place, which led to watching the movies High School Musical and Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, and me finding out how sleep deprivation over two nights affects me (courtesy of Hein's snoring), the answer being that I'm still surprisingly coherent, coordinated, and not too tired by the end of the third day. I also become more sociable because I stop caring so much about what I say :)
The gang and I bought Ali the following things : A voucher for a manicure and pedicure, and one of the scrapbooks she's been drooling over in Pepe's for months on end. Other presents included perfumes, a watch, and a cool waffle maker that made penguin shaped waffles that we tested out on Friday morning :)

EDIT: I totally forgot the whole weekend here. Whoops.

Saturday evening I went to a meetup with some LJ people, had Dom's Pizza, good conversation, nice evening overall.

Sunday I wandered around the city with Chris. We watched Hard Candy, a movie about a 14 year old girl taking revenge on a pedophile, and containing a scene that had all the males squirming in discomfort. It was a really good movie though and one I would recommend to everyone, even the males *evil laugh* A couple of things the movie brought up though : Whose right is it to punish the guilty, and is capital punishment warranted versus not letting the mofos out of this life so easily.

I'm now back at uni. 3 day week. Linguistics looks to be cool as always. Stats I've missed the first two lectures for, but since I failed previously I know that those first two lectures don't cover much. The lecturer for Graphics, Tim Lambert, is way too excited by the ability to draw pretty pictures using maths. And SPM.. well.. it's at the high end of the INFS subject spectrum, meaning I think it'll be boring but doable without too much trouble.

Tonight we had Hein's 21st (+ a few years :p). We wanted it to be a surprise birthday dinner so Ali gave Hein some bs excuse of having dinner with a relative, I claimed my usual weekly Jewishness, we all made all sorts of excuses, and then met up at the place We went to the Garden Buffet at Star City, and let me just say that the food there is AWESOME. Which made it all the worse when we all assembled there early to surprise Hein and ended up waiting for about 2 hours until he came with his Burmese friends. To top it off most of us hadn't eaten lunch since we had the expectation of a buffet, so we were all sitting there making cracks about eating our clothes, our cutlery, and eachother. I ate two plates of dinner, a plate of dessert, and ice cream. I'm still full now hehe. We bought Hein a new camera, plus a memory card and holder thingy. Hein rocked up wearing this awesome battery powered T-Shirt that flashed the word SEXY. He also brought a feather stick thing which some of our group had lots of fun with. Too much awesomeness for me to document in its entirety, suffice to say we had good fun. Afterwards we split up, leaving Hein to go show off his SEXYness at the gay club by himself.

Tomorrow is Ali's birthday, followed by my birthday on Monday. Damn its fun having friends whose birthdays are so close together, although it does get to be a drain on the bank account a bit. More fun and games to come.

a) Sun Tzu's Art of War
b) pop fantasy crap that's quick and easy and fun to read, but the literary equivalent of junk food
c) Machiavelli's The Prince
d) Something else about Carl Jung, the last book I got from the librar is rather.. hmm.. rather simplistic and not very helpful. Also the constant use of the word 'psychic' is distracting, even though Jung meant it in the context of 'psyche'
e) other (offer suggestions)
