so i had a reading aloud test today. A few circumstances decided to gang up on me to make sure i failed. First of all, we would be asked to read one of three passages aloud. To make this slightly easier, we were told which 3. I managed to practise all 3. Except that one of them wasn't the one i thought it was >_< Still, we would only be asked to read one of 3 right? So i had a decent chance of not being asked the one that would totally screw me over. My tutor gave me the one i'd done no prep for >_<

It was really just plain embarrassing. There i was, a second session japanese student literally sounding it out syllable by syllable, while my tutor looked on sympathetically. I knew i was mangling it but i had no choice but to go on. At the end, she asked me why the kitten had gotten lost ( i think that's what she asked anyway). I got the answer about half right. She then questioned my answer, and i panicked and assumed that i'd said the kitten got lost because it listened rather than because it didn't. So i tried to rephrase it in a way that a first semester student should have been able to do without difficulty.

As soon as she turned the tape off the first words out of my mouth were "sorry". I felt it was owed to her since i had just ruined her language so completely and utterly.
